2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus visited HEC Montréal on May 24 to take part in the Social Business Forum, organized by the IDEOS centre for management of social enterprises.
The Bangladeshi economist, founder of the Grameen microfinance bank and a leading social entrepreneur, addressed the audience in the National Bank Amphitheatre at HEC Montréal. He was preceded by two other guest speakers: Lamiya Morshed, Executive Director of the Yunus Centre, and Hans Reitz, co-founder of the Grameen Creative Lab. Their talks were broadcast live on the IDÉOS Facebook page, where they were viewed online by more than 49,000 people.
The Social Business Forum was also an opportunity for 7 young social entrepreneurs, 6 of whom studied at HEC Montréal, to meet the guests. The projects they presented during the meeting included Éau, Yapouni, Cousmos, Singa, Toucan and Potloc, in addition to the ProtERA project, winner of the 2016 Social Business Creation competition.
