The Virtuose teaching approach is introduced, integrating new technology into MBA students’ experience and making laptop computers everyday work tools. This is a first in Quebec.

The School receives the Grand Mérite de la feuille d’or award from the Quebec chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture.
1997
Another Canadian premiere: the opening of the trading room, one of the best-equipped in the academic community, with sophisticated software and 24 workstations supplied with near real-time financial data.
1996
The School’s new ultra-modern home on Côte-Sainte-Catherine is opened. The ceremony is attended by Quebec Premier Lucien Bouchard.

The School is admitted to the Conférence des Grandes Écoles de France as an associate member.
1994
The International Advisory Board is created to help guide the School’s internationalization strategy.
1987
A new range of short graduate programs is launched. Today there are nine of these specialized graduate diplomas (D.E.S.S.).
1979
The first international student exchange agreement is signed with ESSEC in Paris, the forerunner of the Passport to the World exchange program.
1976
The MSc in Administration is launched. It now offers 18 specializations.
1975
The Research Office is founded. The PhD in Administration is launched, jointly with three other Montréal university-level institutions.
1973
The Chair of Small and Medium-Sized Business, the School’s first, is founded. Today there are 25 such chairs and some 30 research units and knowledge transfer centres.
1970
The School’s second home, at 5255 Decelles, is inaugurated by Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa, in the midst of the October crisis.

The School offers a certificate in Administration. Today HEC Montréal has 21 certificate programs.
