Fourteen economic and financial leaders in Quebec have joined forces to provide a noteworthy financial contribution to the Jacques-Parizeau Research Chair in Economic Policy at HEC Montréal.
The Chair was established in January 2023 and is directed by Professor Pierre-Carl Michaud. These donations by the Ministère des Finances du Québec, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), CGI, Quebecor, Desjardins Group, National Bank, Héroux-Devtek, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Beneva, TD Bank Group, BMO Financial Group, Énergir, CIBC and RBC Foundation will enable the Chair to fulfil its mission of analyzing the major economic challenges facing Quebec with the utmost academic rigour.
Set up at the initiative of the Fonds Jacques-Parizeau, the Chair is committed to highlighting the vital contributions made by Quebec’s 26th premier during his lifetime. Parizeau taught at HEC Montréal for more than 20 years, mentoring several generations of economists and helping develop modern economic policies that have shaped the Quebec of today.
Several of the donors underscored the significance of his legacy:
