The HEC Montréal Foundation is delighted to announce that Luc Poirier (HEC Montréal 2020) has joined the prestigious Cercle du Directeur following a generous donation of $650,000. In honour of this exceptional commitment, four spaces will be named after him: two in the Hélène Desmarais Building in downtown Montreal, one in the Côte-Sainte-Catherine Building and one in the Decelles Building.
Originating from a modest background, Luc Poirier began his business endeavours during his teenage years, paving his way to success in the computer trade industry before moving into the world of commercial real estate. Through strategic acquisitions and innovative projects, his company, Poirier, has distinguished itself over the years to become one of the leading real estate firms in Quebec.
Recently graduated from the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program, he describes the experience as enriching and stimulating, even though he facedchallenges with concentration:
"In my youth, I had difficulty listening in class, primarily due to my ADHD, which made it challenging to stay focused. However, I found my education at HEC Montréal particularly enlightening. The pace of the program was well suited to dynamic individuals, the instructors were highly qualified, and my fellow students brought diverse and relevant perspectives to our discussions. The program taught me some valuable interpersonal skills, and I also developed an enhanced ability to synthesize my opinions and strategies to share with my business partners, investors, and other stakeholders I collaborate with.”
With this contribution, Luc Poirier aims to perpetuate the academic excellence of the School and empower emerging leaders who are poised to drive positive change in the world. “Building a bright future starts with well-run organizations led by seasoned leaders. With this donation, I hope to contribute to the development of the next generation of management professionals, and I am convinced that HEC Montréal is an institution of choice to achieve this," affirms Poirier.
