Mentoring | Building Bridges in Canada
This unique event aims to connect our community of Newcomers with HEC Montréal alumni who have successfully integrated into Canada.
We are looking for about 15 mentors interested in sharing their personal journeys, tips, and advice.
Discussions will be held in French, English, or another language chosen by the mentors, and the complete list of mentors will be announced on our LinkedIn page.
Location: Hélène-Desmarais Building, 501 de la Gauchetière St. W, Montreal, QC H2Z 1Z5 (free parking available)
Format: mentors will be stationed at different tables, allowing students to move between them to initiate discussions.
Schedule:
- 5:00 PM: Arrival of mentors and students
- 5:20 PM: Welcome speech
- 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM: Cocktail (open format)
Mentor Mission:
- Introduce yourself, present your journey as a former newcomer
- Share practical advice that facilitated your transition to Quebec
- Offer tips for successful integration into the local job market
- Answer students' questions
- No materials are needed, but a list of potential questions can be provided for preparation
Student Profile:
- Mainly graduate students (DESS, M.Sc., MBA...) newly arrived in Canada
- Registration is required to participate
- Students will be informed of the mentors' list beforehand and can come with specific issues or questions
