A special visitor for Senegalese and Congolese graduates!
March 15, 2016
Senegalese and Congolese alumni and graduates received a special visit in February from the School’s Director, Michel Patry.
First off, he met with some twenty Senegalese alumni, including Tijane Sylla (MBA 1979), former Minister of Tourism and Air Transportation and founding director of the Centre d’études supérieures africaines de gestion (CESAG), and Ousmane Diouf (MBA 2013), ambassador for Réseau HEC Montréal in Africa. He reaffirmed the School’s commitment to maintaining connections with graduates outside Canada, with a view to future activities and new partnerships.
A few days later, he attended the first convocation ceremony for the specialized international graduate diploma (D.E.S.S.) in energy-sector management program in Brazzaville, Congo. The ceremony was attended by a number of the 22 graduates in the first cohort of the program, from companies and government ministries in the region, along with several students in the second cohort, as well as Jean Jacques Bouya, Minister at the Presidency for Spatial Planning and Delegate-General for Major Projects, Georges Moyen, Minister of Higher Education, Paul Louzolo-Kimbembe, Acting Rector of the Université Marien Ngouabi, and Daniel Arsenault, Political Counsellor, Canadian Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This D.E.S.S. in energy-sector management is being offered at the request of the government of the Republic of the Congo, which was interested in optimizing its power grid. The D.E.S.S. is intended for participants from private companies, government ministries and organizations working in the natural resource sector in general and energy in particular. The one-year program is directed by Pierre-Olivier Pineau, holder of the Chair in Energy Sector Management at HEC Montréal, and includes 18 courses along with a supervised study program.
Congratulations to the new graduates!
