Gilbert Laporte named the world’s most influential author in operations research/management science

Full Professor Gilbert Laporte has been proclaimed the world’s most productive and influential author in operations research and management science by Omega – The International Journal of Management Science.
His 299 publications and 7,486 citations in specialized journals in these two fields earned him his first place in this ranking drawn up in co-operation with the Web of Science (WoS) database.
Professor Laporte has already been recognized on numerous occasions for his exceptional contribution to advancing knowledge in management science:
- 2016-2017 Prix d’excellence FRQNT, from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT)
- Ranking of the world’s 1,040 most highly cited researchers, according to their h score and their Google Scholar Citations public profiles (2016)
- Lifetime Achievement in Location Analysis Award, from INFORMS (2014)
- Pierre Laurin Award (2012)
- Robert M. Herman Lifetime Achievement Award in Transportation Science, from INFORMS (2009)
- Gérard Parizeau Award (2009)
- Innis–Gérin Medal, from the Royal Society of Canada (2007)
- Grand Prize for teaching excellence, from HEC Montréal (2001)
Professor Laporte not only holds the Canada Research Chair in Distribution Management, but is also a member of the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT) and the Group for Research in Decision Analysis (GERAD). He has also been a member of the Royal Society of Canada since 1998 and an INFORMS Fellow since 2005.
