HEC Montréal awarded diplomas to its Master’s-level and DESS students on the evening of November 19. The ceremony in Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts saluted the achievements of the 1,212 graduates in the Master’s and specialized graduate diploma programs.
The ceremony was attended by Hélène Desmarais, Chair of the HEC Montréal Board of Directors, HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry and Secretary General and Master of Ceremonies Federico Pasin, along with faculty members, program directors and HEC Montréal alumni association representative François Rousseau-Clair.
This year’s ceremony included the awarding of an Honorary PhD to businessman Jean Chagnon, former President and CEO of Lallemand Ltd. Université de Montréal Chancellor Louis Roquet and Secretary General Alexandre Chabot were also in attendance and helped award the honorary degree.

Retired Professor Henri Barki was also saluted, as he was made a Professor Emeritus.
Finally, note that the graduates of the first cohort from the D.E.S.S. en gestion MDI-Algiers Business School also attended the ceremony. The program is offered by the Algerian school in partnership with HEC Montréal. The 24 graduates received special congratulations from HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry and the Director of specialized graduate diploma programs Renaud Lachance, joined on the stage for this special occasion by Hassan Taghvaï, Director of International Activities and Student Mobility, and Brahim Benabdeslem, Director of the MDI Algiers Business School.

- Professional Master’s degrees: 67 new graduates
- Maîtrises en gestion (MSc): 499 new graduates
- Specialized graduate diplomas (DESS): 646 new graduates
