The HEC Montréal MBA in the top 30 of the Times Higher Education ranking
December 12, 2018
HEC Montréal made an excellent showing in the latest report on business schools in the British Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, produced in co-operation with the Wall Street Journal. The School’s MBA program came in 30th in the global ranking of one-year MBAs.
The ranking evaluates the overall student experience and teaching excellence at business schools offering this program.
A total of 114 schools in 24 countries were ranked.
The data were provided by the schools themselves and drawn from surveys of their 2012, 2013 and 2015 alumni. All in all, nearly 23,000 survey responses were compiled.
The ranking is based on 20 factors, grouped into four key areas.
- Institutional resources (human and instructional) available to students.
- Students’ engagement toward their school, and the way the school involves them in their learning process.
- Students’ outcomes, in particular in terms of salary, once they return to or enter the job market.
- Learning environment, i.e. the school’s diversity, inclusivity and how it provides students with the necessary support.
Note that an analysis of this ranking suggests that shorter MBA programs given over the space of one year, such as the full-time MBA at HEC Montréal, are increasingly valued by alumni.
