Federico Pasin appointed to the International Committee of Universities Canada
September 3, 2020
HEC Montréal Director Federico Pasin started a two-year term as a member of the Universities Canada International Committee, on September 1.
Universities Canada is an umbrella association for close to one hundred Canadian universities, including HEC Montréal. Its chief mission is to advocate for them at the federal and international political levels.
“I am pleased to be able to support the work of the Universities Canada International Committee, especially to represent a school like ours, which is both deeply rooted in its community and open to the world,” said Mr. Pasin. “I also plan to contribute HEC Montréal’s very significant expertise in the area of internationalization of higher education.”
The Universities Canada International Committee consists of a balanced selection of 14 university presidents, representative of member institutions, whose appointments are approved by the association’s board of directors.
The Committee serves as an advisory body to the Universities Canada Board, counselling it on actions to promote the internationalization of higher education, among other policy issues.
During the upcoming year, the Committee will be focusing on a number of priorities:
- Activities to promote interests relating to COVID-19 and the recovery
- Diversifying the range of countries from which international students are recruited
- Student mobility to other countries
- Geopolitical issues
- Immigration
