A new research hub on management education
June 3, 2021
HEC Montréal is launching a new research and knowledge transfer centre devoted to all aspects of management teaching and learning, to be known as Arpège – Research Hub on Management Education.
The mission of Arpège is to develop knowledge on management teaching and learning. It will share this knowledge, too, mainly by publishing its findings in scientific journals and transferring them to people who can benefit from its research, primarily management educators.
The new pole is intended to make the School an international reference on this topic. Its work will also be very valuable to HEC Montréal itself, as it will contribute to the School’s own pedagogical practices, in collaboration with the Department of Teaching Development and Innovation.
Arpège will be directed by Anne Mesny, a Full Professor in the Department of Management. She emphasizes the importance of research into management pedagogy:
“Management education is more than practices and experiences. It must also be the subject of research. There is much still to be understood and discovered about teaching and learning, in management and other fields. The pandemic has made that very clear.”
Professor Mesny will be supported by a multidisciplinary team of scholars from the School and other institutions. Luc Bélanger-Martin, a Full-time Lecturer in the Department of Management, will be in charge of Arpège knowledge transfer activities.
