HEC Montréal MBA climbs to 2nd place in the Bloomberg Businessweek ranking
September 17, 2021
HEC Montréal has placed 2nd among the top business schools in Canada for its MBA program, according to the 2021–2022 ranking by US magazine Bloomberg Businessweek. The School moved up by 4 places in comparison with 2019 and trails only Queen’s University, of Ontario, in this regional ranking.
Bloomberg Businessweek has no longer produced a worldwide ranking since 2019, but instead a number of regional rankings (United States, Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific).
Only 119 schools worldwide appear in this ranking. The data used come from surveys of nearly 20,000 students, alumni and recruitment professionals, in addition to data provided by the institutions themselves.
The 4 evaluation criteria are weighted as follows:
- Compensation (36.5%): graduates’ salaries right after graduation, earnings after several years, placement rate after three months and bonuses
- Learning (25.3%): practical applications of the program, emphasis on innovation, problem solving and strategic thinking, support from instructors, class sizes and collaboration
- Networking (23.8%): quality of networks and interactions with other alumni, with the student community and employers, career management services and brand power from recruiters’ viewpoints
- Entrepreneurship (14.4%): teaching of this subject, development of skills and drive in this area
As in the past, HEC Montréal scored particularly well on 3 of these criteria: learning, networking and entrepreneurship.
