14 of our professors among the world’s most influential researchers
November 30, 2022
Fourteen HEC Montréal faculty members appear in an international ranking that considers the influence of scientists in all fields of research. The ranking was published by Mendeley, a search tool belonging to Elsevier, the Dutch scientific publisher.
The ranking is divided into 2 lists. One take into account the citations and impact indexes for the year 2021 and the other, for the last 25 years.
HEC Montréal faculty members who appear on either list this year are:
- Jean-François Cordeau;
- Alain D’Astous;
- David Doloreux;
- Pierre Hansen;
- Ann Langley;
- Gilbert Laporte;
- Alain Haurie;
- Isabelle Le Breton-Miller;
- Pierre-Majorique Léger;
- Danny Miller;
- Guy Paré;
- Stephan Vachon;
- Christian Vandenberghe; and
- Gregory Vial.
Jean-Charles Chebat, deceased in 2019, who was a HEC Montréal professor for many years, is also in this ranking.
The ranking is based on a dataset of close to 8 million authors worldwide, in 20 disciplines and from both the academic and private sectors. Given that the ranking consists of just over 190,000 researchers, their inclusion in this select group means that our professors are among the most influential 2% in their respective research fields.
In the Operations Research, Medical Informatics and Business & Management fields, note the exceptional standing of Professor Emeritus Gilbert Laporte, Full Professor Guy Paré and Tenured Researcher Danny Miller. All 3 are ranked in the top 10 worldwide in their fields.
