A record year for the HEC Montréal centraide campaign

December 19, 2022

The HEC Montréal Centraide campaign, which ran from November 14 to 25, raised over $184,000, surpassing the initial goal of $150,000 and setting a new record for generosity at the School.

This year’s Co-Chairs were Pierre Balloffet, Associate Professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Joanne Griffith, in charge of publishing and language revision for the Case Management Centre. The annual fundraising campaign is intended to support Centraide in its mission to combat poverty and social exclusion. Thousands of vulnerable people and hundreds of community organizations in Greater Montréal benefit from the financial support provided.

Faced with the social inequality exacerbated by the public-health crisis in recent years, the vast HEC Montréal family stepped up and showed exemplary solidarity and commitment in response to the appeal by the organizing committee.

“In a difficult world, it is up to everyone to do what they can to support our communities’ vitality. That’s why, in addition to the fundraising goal, we wanted this campaign to bring people together and be a happy event as much as possible. We aimed to raise a smile, and we can say ‘Mission accomplished!’ Thank you for your generosity!”

2022 highlights

This year, 309 donors gave to the campaign, including 268 staff members. In addition, 8 new donors joined the Leaders’ Circle*, whose members each pledge upwards of $1,200 a year, bringing the number of Leaders to 53.

The campaign featured all kinds of fun-filled activities and initiatives: a walking event, spaghetti lunch, street musicians, morning coffee, and of course, the traditional benefit show on November 30, showcasing the talents of many staff members and students.
