1st place at the AIBC
Made up of Alexis Garneau, Cassandra Desroches, Florentine Gagnon and Sandrine Gauthier, the School’s team finished 1st at the Alberta International Business Competition (AIBC). HEC Montréal beat out the University of Toronto and Indiana University in this international case-solving competition, which took place in Jasper, Alberta.
The final case was about the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Elks, as they strive to embrace the world of esports.
The team was accompanied by Jean-François St-Pierre who acted as coach.
2nd place at the MLSE Case Competition
Another delegation from HEC Montréal came in 2nd at the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Case Competition, a case-solving competition specializing in sports and marketing.
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) team, including Tristan Beaubien, Timmy Kwan, Thomas Chamberland and Julien Lopresti, came in just behind a Masters level team from the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson).
The case dealt with the business development of one of the 9 professional teams that are part of MLSE.
Our students were coached by the administrative director of the HEC Montréal Sport Management Hub, Samuel Ouellette.
2nd place at the National Ethical Leadership Case Competition
A third team from HEC Montréal’s BAA also finished 2nd at the Ted Rogers National Ethical Leadership Case Competition. The team’s members were Alice Gravel-Chouinard, Marie-Ange Tremblay-Laporte, Cassandra Fortin and Benjamin Boisvert.
This competition requires participants to demonstrate responsible leadership in resolving a case. This year, their challenge was to review the management structure of a large media company, while respecting the stakeholders.
The group had one week to develop its strategy. It benefited from the support of Kaileigh Hamilton-Browne, their coach.
