2022 CFA Institute Research Challenge
February 25, 2022
Five members of the HEC Montréal student community triumphed in the Quebec round of the 2022 Research Challenge, a competition organized by the CFA Institute.
The event was held virtually on February 16. In addition to HEC Montréal, the other competing teams were from Concordia University, Université Laval and McGill University.
Maxime Amyot, Olivier Benoit, Mathieu Hinse, Charles-Olivier Matton and Maya Pelletier, all in the Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) program, took first place in this financial analysis competition. For the 2022 edition, participants had to evaluate the financial outlook for the Quebec consulting engineering firm WSP Global.
The team's coach was Jean-Philippe Tarte, Full-time Lecturer at HEC Montréal.
The winning team impressed the jury members with the “quality of their research and presentation.” The winners will receive a CFA Montréal scholarship, to cover the registration fees for one of the exams in the CFA program.
The team will represent Quebec at the Canadian finals of this international competition, on March 30, 2022.
