The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT) has awarded a new $3 million grant to the Group for Research in Decision Analysis, recognizing it as a strategic cluster.
GERAD, of which some 20 HEC Montréal researchers are active members, received the maximum grant under this program, i.e. $500,000 per year for the next 6 years.
Created in 1979, GERAD is an inter-university research centre bringing together specialists in data and decision sciences from the main Quebec universities. It includes nearly 500 students at the Master’s, Doctorate and post-doctorate levels, about 100 of them from HEC Montréal.
GERAD works to contribute to future developments in digital intelligence, by integrating artificial intelligence methods into mathematical decision sciences in order to improve modelling and accelerate solution algorithms. It also seeks to improve machine-learning techniques using mathematical optimization methods.
