UdeM and its affiliated schools figure in the world’s top 100 of 2 prestigious rankings

Two recent rankings place the Université de Montréal (UdeM) and its affiliated schools, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal, in an enviable position among the world’s universities that offer management programs.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022
Indeed, this year, the World University Rankings by Subject classification rank them 76th in the world and 4th in Canada, in the Business and Management category. This is an improvement as compared to last year, when they ranked 98th in the world.
This British magazine’s prestigious ranking evaluates the overall quality of universities from around the world, according to several criteria grouped into 5 categories.
- Teaching and learning environment – 30.9%
- Research – 32.6%
- Citations – 25%
- International outlook – 9%
- Industry income – 2.5%

QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022
UdeM and its schools are also among the world’s top 100 universities in terms of Business & Management Studies, according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British organization. They more specifically rank 85th in the world and 5th in Canada.
The results are based on 5 main criteria.
- Academic reputation – survey of over 130,000 academics worldwide
- Employer reputation – over 75,000 survey responses collected from graduate employers
- Research citations per paper – measured through the Scopus database
- H-index – applied to the research productivity and impact of each institution, according to data compiled by Scopus
- International Research Network (IRN indicator) – new index which reflects an institution’s ability to diversify its research network through partnerships
