Martin Coiteux appointed Adjunct Professor

HEC Montréal recently announced the appointment of Martin Coiteux as Adjunct Professor in the Department of International Business.
Following a long career in the business sector and in provincial politics, this new role is a homecoming of sorts for Professor Coiteux, who was an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at HEC Montréal for almost 20 years.
“It’s with a great deal of emotion that I return to the place where my career began about thirty years ago. I feel extremely privileged to be a part of this fine academic institution once again, and to be able to develop new content aimed at greater civic economic education.”
As an Adjunct Professor, he will mainly participate in the teaching activities of the Department of International Business. Professor Coiteux will also help create new educational tools and training content for the general public. Thanks to his expertise, he will collaborate in popularizing the notions of economic policies and the major issues related to them, all with the aim of improving understanding, and developing the economic culture of the population.
About Martin Coiteux
Martin Coiteux holds a BSc in economics from Queens University at Kingston and a PhD in international economics from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. He gained substantial professional experience as an economist with the Bank of Canada and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. He was an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics and the Department of International Business at HEC Montréal (1993-2012).
Elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in 2014, he held various ministerial positions during his political career:
- President of the Treasury Board (2014-2016);
- Minister of Public Safety and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy (2016-2018).
