Opening of the 90th Acfas convention

The 90th edition of the Acfas convention has officially opened on Monday, May 8, 2023. The event, which will end on May 12, is being conducted jointly on the campuses of HEC Montréal, Université de Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal.
The theme of the convention is “100 years of knowledge for a sustainable world”. It will be an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the organization, while also conveying the importance of university research in addressing current societal challenges.
Nearly 70 speakers from HEC Montréal, including faculty members, researchers, students, and alumni, are participating in this event.
Several topics that fall within our school’s well-known range of expertise shall be addressed during the convention.

As co-host, HEC Montréal will host around 250 activities throughout the week — scientific symposia, free papers, and special activities — at the Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Decelles buildings.
Many of these activities are free and open to the public.

Responsible Event Management
The 90th Acfas convention has achieved level 3 of the environmentally responsible classification by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec. The event has also been classified by the Réseau des femmes en environnement [women's environmental network] and its Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables [Québec council for environmentally responsible events].

Previously known as the “Association canadienne-française pour l’avancement des sciences”, Acfas was founded in 1923. Its mission is to promote scientific activities, propel research, and disseminate knowledge about all research fields in the Canadian and international French-speaking community.
