The award is granted on the basis of academic merit, which includes the presentation of an ongoing research project in sustainable finance. Its purpose is to encourage the winning candidates to pursue work in this field.
Valued at $15,000, this fellowship is funded by the McCall MacBain Foundation, one of Canada's leading scholarship funders.
Thomas Boyer is currently writing his thesis under the supervision of David Ardia, Associate Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences. His research will help to provide a quantitative understanding of the relationship between shifts in climate sentiment and the future performance of companies that encourage environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. This greater understanding will enable agents to make data-driven decisions regarding sustainable investment.
