23 of our professors among the world’s most influential researchers

October 8, 2024

23 HEC Montréal community members appear in an international ranking that considers the influence of scientists in all fields of research.

The ranking has been compiled by a research team from Stanford University and Dutch publisher Elsevier.

It is divided into 2 lists: One takes into account the citations and impact indexes for the year 2023 and the other, for the last 25 years.

Current faculty members of HEC Montréal who appear in the lists this year are:

This selective ranking also includes Jean-Charles Chebat, an HEC Montréal professor for many years who died in 2019, Affiliated Professor Alain Haurie, as well as currently retired faculty members, Henri Barki, Alain D’Astous, Ann Langley and Gilbert Laporte. It should be noted that Professor Laporte and Tenured Researcher Danny Miller are ranked in the top 10 worldwide in their respective fields (operations research and management).

Ranking methodology

The ranking is based on a dataset of over 8 million authors worldwide, in 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, and from both the academic and private sectors. Given that the ranking consists of just over 200,000 researchers, their inclusion in this select group means that our professors are among the most influential 2% in their respective research fields.
