International rating: HEC Montréal recognized for its social impact

June 25, 2024

As a result of its social impact and sustainability achievements, the School appears in the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) for Business Schools, which was unveiled at the UN’s PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) Global Forum. HEC Montréal is one of the 77 business schools from 30 countries that were rated, making it to Level 3 out of 5.

A list by and for the student community

The PIR has been established by students who assess the positive impact of their business school on society, and specifically the manner in which it addresses societal and sustainable challenges and prepares them to become responsible business leaders.

The collection of data at HEC Montréal was jointly organized and led by student associations and committees, under the coordination of Augustine Hermans, an MSc student in innovation-entrepreneurship. This year, 150 students from the School answered 20 survey questions that were divided into 7 key components: governance, culture, programs, learning methods, support for student groups, school as a model, public commitment.

“HEC Montréal’s presence in this international rating highlights our commitment to the UN PRMEs as well as all our efforts in terms of social impact,” stated Federico Pasin, Director of HEC Montréal. “This is a source of great pride that reflects on our entire community and motivates us to continue training management leaders who contribute responsibly to the success of organizations and the sustainable development of society.”
