Research impact: HEC Montréal ranked 67th worldwide

HEC Montréal is ranked 67th in the world and 3rd in Canada for its research impact, in the Financial Times (FT) Aggregated Research Ranking.
This unique exercise, which was conducted by the FT as part of a report on the relevance, rigour and resonance of research in the world, was based on the following publication criteria:
- Citations in the 50 FT-recognized journals (FT50), weighted by research field (OpenAlex)
- Influence within the academic community – non-FT50 journals (Scite)
- Impact on teaching – works cited in syllabi (Open Syllabus) and mentions in management cases (Case Centre)
- Impact outside the academic community – academic paper downloads by government or private agencies (SSRN) and citations in government consultation documents (Overton)
- Societal importance – alignment of articles with the UN’s Sustainable Development goals (OpenAlex SDG)
- Number of articles in FT50 journals per academic faculty member over the past 3 years
