Me Louis Morisset appointed as Adjunct Professor

Me Louis Morisset, outgoing President and CEO of the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), has been appointed as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Finance at HEC Montréal. With more than 25 years of experience in regulation and financial transactions, he will participate in the teaching, research, and outreach activities of this entity in the School.

About Me Louis Morisset
Me Louis Morisset was President and CEO of the AMF (the regulatory and supervisory body of Quebec’s financial sector) from 2013 to 2023. Before this, he held the position of AMF Superintendent, Securities Markets, from 2006. In addition to having chaired the Canadian Securities Administrators from 2015 to 2022, he served on the board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions and has, for many years, contributed significantly to the initiatives of that organization.
Prior to joining the AMF, he was a partner at the law firm Stikeman Elliott LLP, where, for close to ten years, he practiced corporate law, acquiring extensive experience in such areas as securities law, corporate finance, and public and private mergers and acquisitions. Me Morisset also has extensive experience as a corporate director, having served, for instance, on the board of directors of the Institute for governance of private and public organizations, Finance Montréal and the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés. Me Morisset holds a bachelor‘s degree in law from Université de Montréal (1995) and has been a member of the Bar of Quebec since 1996.
