Martin Boyer, new editor-in-chief of the Journal of Risk and Insurance

Professor Martin Boyer from HEC Montréal’s Department of Finance has just been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Risk and Insurance (JRI), a leading international journal in the field of insurance and risk management.
JRI has been published since 1933 and is one of the two flagship publications of the prestigious American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA), the largest association in the world devoted to the study of different insurance markets and corporate risk management.
The scientific journal is also renowned for its great academic rigor and significant contribution to literature.
Martin Boyer will succeed Professor Emerita Joan Schmit. Professor Georges Dionne, also from the Department of Finance, was Editor-in-Chief of the same journal from 2007 to 2012.
Professor Boyer’s appointment as Editor-in-Chief of the JRI cements HEC Montréal’s prominent position in risk and insurance management.
Martin Boyer will officially take office on January 1st, 2025 for a renewable term of three years.
About Martin Boyer
- Martin Boyer has been a Professor at HEC Montréal since 1997 and has held a Professorship since 2006.
- He has published nearly a hundred scientific and professional papers, the vast majority of them dealing with corporate risk management and insurance.
- He has supervised over 150 PhD theses as well as theses and supervised projects at the Master’s level, in addition to teaching BBA, MSc, MBA, Specialized Graduate Diploma and PhD courses, both at HEC Montréal, and at the University of British Columbia, the University of New South Wales (Australia), Cornell University (USA), the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).
- He was President of the Northern Finance Association and the American Risk and Insurance Association.
- He is currently President of the HEC Montréal Faculty Assembly.
