Pierre-Majorique Léger receives award for research excellence

Professor Pierre-Majorique Léger from the Department of Information Technologies is the 2024 winner of the Pierre Laurin Research Award. This Award for Research Excellence honours his outstanding scientific career and his contribution to the School’s renown.
He received an MSc in Industrial Engineering in 1997 and a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2002 from Polytechnique Montréal. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in Information Technologies from HEC Montréal and NYU Stern School of Business, he joined HEC Montréal as a professor in 2004.
Laboratories and Research Chair
He founded the ERPsim Lab in 2007 and invented ERPsim, a simulation game to train ERP system users by simulating real business environments. This game is used by more than 50,000 students per year in 350 universities and thousands of organizations worldwide.
In 2013, he co-founded Tech3Lab, the largest user experience (UX) lab in North America. This lab focuses on analyzing human-IT interactions to improve user experience by mobilizing neuroscience.
In 2017, he was appointed Chairholder of the Research Chair in User Experience, with which he conducts research in collaboration with many Quebec and Canadian organizations.
In 2018, he co-founded the NeuroIS Society, a Vienna-based non-profit organization for scientists and professionals working at the nexus of information systems (IS) and neuroscience research and development.
Awards and Publications
His work has been widely published. He is the author or co-author of 115 scientific articles and over 196 conference proceedings, published in the most important scientific journals and conferences in his field.
He has received numerous honours for his academic contributions, including the Esdras Minville Award from HEC Montréal in 2021.
