Sébastien Arcand appointed to the scientific committee of the FRQ – Society and Culture

Sébastien Arcand, Professor and Director of the Department of Management at HEC Montréal, has been selected as a member of the scientific committee of the Fonds de Recherche du Québec (FRQ) – Society and Culture.
This committee, which is made up of 16 key players in the education sector, will participate in the FRQ’s strategic planning process and will make recommendations:
- On all issues related to scientific orientations, research practices, the promotion of research results, the next generation of researchers and FRQ programs;
- On the evolution of notions of excellence, open science principles and other international trends that should be followed by the FRQ;
- On actions that promote interdisciplinarity and encourage collaborations between different fields of research;
- On research partnerships, research innovation, knowledge mobilization, interpreting the impact of research, etc.
About Sébastien Arcand
Sébastien Arcand is the Director of the Department of Management at HEC Montréal. He also serves as the Associate Director of the HEC Montréal Sports Hub, besides being a joint holder of the Research Chair in the Demolinguistic Situation and Language Policies in Quebec.
A sociologist by training, he specializes in the management of ethnocultural diversity in institutions and organizations. His interests also extend to the socio-professional integration of immigrants and the issues this can entail. Among the research topics he has explored are the various identity-related dimensions of entrepreneurship. In 2021, the British organization Apolitical ranked him among the world’s 100 most influential academics for their research into the work of government.
