Georges Dionne publishes updated edition of Handbook of Insurance

January 24, 2025

Professor Georges Dionne from the Department of Finance has just published the third edition of his reference book, Handbook of Insurance.

This third edition includes many additions as well as updates. In fact, 13 of the 17 chapters in the book are entirely new and cover topics that were absent from the second edition (2013). The other chapters have also been significantly revised to reflect recent advances in the field of insurance economics.

The Handbook of Insurance reviews the last 50 years of research developments in this field. It is a unique source of reference for teachers, researchers and graduate students. The book is also widely consulted in the circles of regulation, consultation or insurance practice.

Volume I starts with the history and foundations of risk and insurance. The new edition covers many topics including the following:

  • climate risk;
  • pandemic risk;
  • insurtech;
  • cyber risk;
  • new life insurance products;
  • telematics; and
  • machine learning.

Volume II will be available in a few weeks.
