Major mobilization for French at work

Nearly 250 people took part in this edition of La Dictée P.G.L de la Francophonie. After an initial qualifying round that was held on February 27 in over 70 companies, around 50 people went on to participate the grand finale.

Pierre-Olivier Zappa, TVA anchor and spokesperson for La Dictée P.G.L de la Francophonie hosted this grand finale and joined in for the dictation. The actual dictation was read out by Jean-François Roberge, Quebec’s Minister of the French language and Minister responsible for Canadian relations and Canadian Francophonie. This year’s musical performance was provided by singer-songwriter Marc-Antoine Joly.

The dictation for the finale, entitled “Un cybercrime alambiqué”, was prepared by author Annie Bourret and explored the theme of cyber citizenship.

A jury chaired by Annie Galarneau, Director of the Linguistic Expertise Department, Office québécois de la langue française, corrected the dictation copies.

Funds for educating the young

Through the involvement of companies, the Fondation Paul Gérin-Lajoie has raised donations that will help support the education of young people. Half the funds raised will be given to underprivileged schools in Quebec to finance a project of their choice. The other half will be used to develop educational tools.
