HEC Montréal launches master’s degree in sports management

HEC Montréal is making an invaluable contribution to the professionalization of the sports sector with the creation of the first ever maîtrise en management du sport (M.M.) [Master of Management (MM) in Sports Management] program.

This professional master’s degree is the first program in French of its kind to be launched in North America.

Starting in fall 2025, the first cohort will be trained to acquire superior expertise in sports management, so that they may contribute to the growth of sports organizations, using the latest knowledge and best practices.

The School already offers a specialized graduate diploma (DESS) in sports management (D.E.S.S. en gestion – management du sport), as well as two short graduate programs in this field. These are all offered in French. Students who have started or completed a DESS can apply for accelerated admission to seamlessly continue their studies in a master’s program.

Classes for this master’s program will be held in the Hélène Desmarais Building in downtown Montréal.

The program includes an innovative integration project to be carried out at the end of the course in collaboration with sports organizations within the university itself. It can be conducted in different ways and will enable students to apply what they have learned, while gaining an immersive experience in ground realities.

Students pursuing this master’s degree will also get opportunities to become part of the HEC Montréal Sports Management Hub, an internationally renowned research and knowledge transfer entity in the field of sports management.
