UdeM and HEC Montréal among the best globally for academic reputation

February 27, 2025

The Université de Montréal (UdeM) and its affiliated schools – HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal – are ranked 5th in Canada in the prestigious Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2025, tied with McMaster University and the University of Alberta.

They are in the 101–150 th group, worldwide. Harvard University is at the top of this group of 300 institutions from 38 countries and territories for the 14th consecutive year.

This ranking is based on an opinion survey sent to university professors active in research (having published for 5 years) by the British magazine Times Higher Education, whose database is populated using bibliometric information (Elsevier). These scholars are asked to nominate up to 15 universities that they consider to be the best in terms of teaching and research, with greater emphasis on the latter. Voter diversity (geographical distribution and subject areas) is also taken into account.
