Obligatory health insurance for international students
Obligatory health insurance
It is mandatory for all international students to join the health insurance provided by HEC Montréal for the duration of their stay at the school.
One possible exception: the replacement of the Cowan health insurance under the free health insurance plan of Québec (RAMQ) for eligible international students. If you are eligible, you should learn about the steps to take before your departure.

Student association health and dental insurance plan
A group insurance plan is made available by your student association as a complement to Quebec’s provincial health insurance plan (RAMQ) and the Cowan health insurance plan.
As an HEC Montréal student, you will automatically be billed for the following complementary insurance plans by your student association:
- health and dental insurance for Canadian students and permanent residents;
- dental insurance for international students. International students with a health insurance card issued by the government of Quebec may also register for the health coverage.
You are free to withdraw from this insurance plan. You can make a withdrawal request by consulting the ASEQ website.
It can take up to one week for the withdrawal request to arrive and your HEC en ligne file to be updated.
