Medical insurance for international students

International students are required to have health insurance, and they can also take out supplemental insurance. Here are the possibilities offered at HEC Montréal.

Required medical insurance

International students are automatically registered to the medical insurance provided by HEC Montréal (Cowan) according to a specific coverage period. These fees will be added to your invoice.

Arriving before the coverage period starts? We strongly recommend purchasing insurance with adequate coverage until that time. Find out more: Sécuriglobe or Blue Cross.

Possible exemptions

Premium reimbursed

If you qualify for an exemption, the initial Cowan insurance premium will be reimbursed to you. Just send proof of your eligibility (RAMQ) to HEC en ligne before the deadline for tuition fee payments.

Supplemental health insurance

Although the School does not insist upon it, students are free to opt for supplemental insurance. This type of insurance can work well for items that are not covered by Cowan or RAMQ, such as dental, optometry and long-term travel. These areas are also covered by some private insurers.
