Tax receipts for students

Availability

Tax receipts (T2202 and Relevé 8) are available in digital format in late February of each year for the preceding calendar year. You will receive an email when they become available at HEC en ligne > Documents > Tax Receipts. The receipts will be presented on the same page.

The receipts are valid even if the mailing address printed on them is not up to date.

If you are an EMBA program student, tax receipts are mailed to the address indicated in your student file.

Want to receive your tax receipts but no longer have access to HEC en ligne?
Write to Zone Info specifying for which years you would like your receipts. Your receipts will be emailed to you.

Downloading receipts

If you have trouble downloading receipts:

  • Try on a computer
  • Use a different browser
  • Authorize pop-ups.

Outstanding balance

Your tax receipts will not be made available if you have an outstanding balance from the previous calendar year. Once your balance has been paid and the payment has been recorded in our system, you will have access to your receipts in HEC en ligne.

Fees eligible for tax exemption

Out of all the fees you paid, tuition fees are eligible for tax exemption (including fees paid for courses dropped without a refund). The eligible amount is a deduction for provincial tax purposes and a tax credit under federal tax regulations.

The following fees are excluded:

  • Student association fees
  • Late fees
  • Change fees
  • All insurance fees (Cowan, ASEQ, liability)
  • Revue Gestion.

Donations can be claimed on taxes and are indicated in a specific box on your tax receipts.

International students

Students are encouraged to file their taxes, whether they worked or not. To do this, you will need your tax receipts. To learn more about your tax obligations, see our web page.

Tax clinic

The SRA’s Pôle Responsabilité Sociale (social responsibility hub) has teamed up with Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec to offer a free income tax return service for low-income students of the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood and surrounding areas.

For all related information, such as eligibility, the procedure, and the dates, please see the page Tax Clinic (in French).
